Year Of The Tiger [ORIGINAL]
"Year Of The Tiger" is an acrylic painting on 16x20 inch stretched canvas. Reference photo by Gina Rosner.
Artist Notes: If you follow the Chinese Zodiac, you'll know that 2022 is the year of the Tiger. Tigers are majestic creatures that often symbolize strength and fearlessness. I knew I wanted to use the tiger as a reflection of humanity's strength through the past few years, but I also wanted to show the exhaustion and indignation we all have experienced as a result of the world's trauma as well as our own personal traumas. When I came upon this reference by Gina, I knew it perfectly summed up the attitude I wanted to exhibit for my painting. This creature is strong, valiant: A fighter and predator as we all know him to be. But in this moment, he's drooped over a stump in apparent exhaustion with almost a look of annoyance on his face. We are strong individuals, but we are tired and annoyed. These moments are incredibly important, as we need time to recharge, to be angry, and to heal. But just like this tiger, we'll know that in time we'll get up invigorated and strong, ready to fight again. I hope that you can feel that power rebuilding in the painting!
